Much of the value of a proper yacht lies in the details ... a few exterior items are shown above. The anchor system is attractive, highly functional and immensely strong. The platform is molded into the deck, and laminated with unidirectional and bidirectional engineered fabrics for extraordinary strength and stiffness. It is supported by a massive, custom fabricated, stainless steel strut that supports the highest imaginable load with ease. The structure has been tested at well over 2,000 lbs vertical pulling load. It holds both primary and secondary anchors, both of which can be retreived by the combination gypsy/capstain windlass. There is a large chain locker that is accessed and vented through the deck and drains overboard. This assures a good, uninterrupted dropping distance for the chain and abundant rode storage. There is no air or water flow into the boat from the chain locker, eliminating both dampness and the aroma of stale sea water. There is a watertight, structural “crash” bulkhead behind the chain locker. The windscreen is all glass in custom Bomar aluminum frames. The center windshield section opens for ventilation, as do all side windows and the aft window. The roof overhangs all the way around, assuring good sun and glare protection and eliminating streaking from condensation and water flow from above. The huge overhang over the cockpit gives complete weather protection under way and quite a bit of protection in port. A hardtop overhanging the whole cockpit is available. Note the hand holds at the rear of the house for cockpit entrance, and the overhead and side rails for going forward. The pantographic windshield wiper system includes variable speed/intermittent wipers with washers on all windows. The cockpit sides include a step for transition from the side decks. The starboard step contains the water connections and hose storage. The port step contains the power connections and power cord storage. The primary engine air inlets are at the forward end of the cockpit sides, assuring a minimum amount of water or spray entry into the engine air system in any weather or sea conditions. Both flanks and the transom have huge storage lockers for all fenders, lines, gas bottles, etc. There are three oversized, waterproof hatches in the cockpit sole. These storage compartments are quite large and capable of swallowing large quantities of gear. The transom also contains a door and a shower that can be used in the well drained cockpit or on the spacious swim platform. | ||
